Firefighters protect life, property and the environment through fire suppression, hazardous materials mitigation and emergency medical services. They also improve their communities through fire prevention activities. Learn from experienced firefighters and practice skills using state-of-the-art training facilities and equipment. Being a member of a fire department is highly recommended, but it is not an admissions requirement.
The minimum required course grades and program grade point average (GPA) for students under this catalog are:

Career Pathway
This WCTC program prepares students to obtain the required licensure to be employed/practice in the state of Wisconsin. The College does not guarantee its curriculum matches the requirements for preparation, examinations, or licensure for other states.
Program Outcomes
- Demonstrate professional conduct by displaying personal code of ethics, positive work ethics, flexibility, teamwork skills, physical fitness, safe procedures and sensitivity to diverse cultures and individuals.
- Perform fire prevention activities including preplanning, public education, inspection and investigation.
- Apply incident management and mitigation skills to emergency incidents.
- Meet professional fire and EMS credentialing standards.
- Communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and through written documentation with clients, coworkers, other agencies and supervisors.
- Apply critical thinking skills to both emergency and non-emergency situations.
